This update is the third in a series of blog posts adapted from the FlashPoint Top Ten Fundraising Tools and Tips first presented to the Marshall County Firefighters Association in June 2011.

8. Start with an annual fundraising plan. Think of it as your department's funding map book. Build from there.  FlashPoint offered a class on this topic at the 25th CITA Fire School in Cedar Rapids on September 25, 2011.

Relying solely on government funding is not a viable way to build your department's sustainability.
