Recently, I received two written fundraising appeals in the same week. The first fundraising appeal implied that because the organization was so great (with no specific information to support this claim), I "owed" them money.
Guess which appeal I chose to respond to?
The case statement for your fundraising efforts is one of the most important, yet often least developed parts of a nonprofit's fundraising process.
Your case statement should:
- Be written to the point. 6-8 sentences is a great goal to match people's attention spans.
- Communicate specificity and urgency. Why should the donor act now? What specific goal will the donation help achieve?
- Be simple a simple and direct call to action that make the donor feel the impact of his or her support.
