In 2012, Nonprofit Fundraising Results Were Up Overall

The Nonprofit Research Collaborative, which includes the Association of Fundraising Professionals as a partner, recently released its third annual survey of 1,200 charitable organizations in the United States and Canada regarding their 2012 fundraising results. 

Highlights include:

• 58 percent raised more in 2012 than they did in 2011
• There were no significant differences in fundraising results across type of charity or between the United States and Canada
• 63 percent of organizations with a stated fundraising goal for 2012 met or exceeded that expectation
• 90 percent offered online giving, and 57 percent of those saw an increase in electronic fundraising results in 2012 over 2011
• 34 percent have formal planned giving programs
• 29 percent did not routinely follow up gifts with some kind of formal thanks (email, phone call or letter)
