Is your department or association a 501 (c) (3)?
Did you end your fiscal year on December 31, 2010?
If the answer to both of those questions is yes, your 2010 Form 990 is due to the IRS by May 15, 2011, approximately two months from today.
If your organization is a 501 (c) (3) and you run your fiscal year in line with your city or fire board year of July 1, your 2011 Form 990 will be due to the IRS by November 15, 2011.
